IoT Solutions
In a world with limited resources and confined space, the understanding and exploitation of our physical assets, capital goods, infrastructures, industrial equipments and machinery, is a crucial challenge for years to come. HIKOB’s mission is to develop and provide wireless autonomous multi-points data acquisition system to capture information on the field and learn from reality, in all contexts and conditions. HiKoB wireless instrumentation systems are at the heart of mission-critical applications for smart cities, intelligent transport systems, intelligent parking, structural health monitoring and protection and security systems. With the HiKoB OpenLab platform, HiKoB provides to the research & innovation community powerful hardware and software tools to prototype, develop and deploy innovative applications in the field of embedded wireless measure: motion capture, AHRS, biomechanics, biologging and robotics.

Internet of Things (IoT) is older than the recent interest in all things smart. Before it was called IoT, there were businesses already using connected devices to gather data, under the terminology M2M (Machine-to-Machine). Some of those devices are still active and serving a purpose for those businesses. It is those businesses that truly understand the challenges and the desire for solutions to their problems. SenseGrow's ecosystem of device and app partners help clients integrate IoT solutions into business processes. ioEYE comes with out-of-the-box support for legacy devices which makes it easy to integrate clients' existing devices with ioEYE. Companies can choose from existing apps from SenseGrow's partners or integrate into an app of clients' choice using our APIs.

Adaptive Wireless Solutions believes that wireless mesh sensor networks are starting to revolutionise the way industrial and commercial organisations monitor, manage and understand their processes and environment. By cost-effectively collecting, evaluating and analysing more relevant data, companies are able to: reduce operating costs, improve productivity, more readily comply with regulatory requirements. The Netbiter EC310 communication gateway connects to field equipment via several connection methods: Serial RS-232/485, Modbus RTU, Modbus-TCP or EtherNet/IP. The gateway sends data to the cloud-based Netbiter Argos data center via Ethernet communication. On-board I/O ports on the EC310 gateway provides the option to connect sensors and additional equipment to the system.

Generally, IoT is seen as a very broad concept originating from M2M and other technologies. At a higher level IoT is often divided into two categories; Applications requiring human interaction, characterized as Human IoT (HIoT) and the Industrial IoT (IIoT). Common for both IIoT and HIoT is that an ideal roll out of technologies would require IPv6, and in a perfect world this would include pathways to include the huge installed base of legacy industrial devices. Mandatory elements of the IIoT would also be end-to-end security, no single point of failure, autonomous node and application discovery just to mention a few objectives typically identified by IT professionals.

A huge part of the emerging Internet of Things (IoT) applications can significantly benefit from context awareness, in particular location awareness. This information might pertain to the location of the user, to the location of devices/appliances or both of them and hence enable a lot of powerful applications, for example, in hospitals to track equipment, doctors, and patients or in industrial environments to track and trace persons and assets. However, IoT research rather focuses on architectures, which includes components for context awareness, but pays less attention to how and with which accuracy context is achieved. Many algorithms and approaches have been proposed for indoor RF-based localization; however, low cost and accurate indoor localization is still very challenging. Many research and commercial solutions claim very high accuracies, which can, however, only be achieved in a very specific setting under ideal conditions. Adbanticsys Research Department is working on the development of cost-effective indoor localization solutions in real-life environments such as warehouses or underground mining sites.
