Jupiter Shop Channel Enhances IT Operations and Customer Engagement with Splunk - Splunk Industrial IoT Case Study
Jupiter Shop Channel Enhances IT Operations and Customer Engagement with Splunk
Jupiter Shop Channel (JSC), Japan’s first television shopping network, was facing several challenges in executing its omni-channel strategy for unified shopping across TV and e-commerce. The company needed a platform that could convert data into actionable insights, simplify workflows, boost interdepartmental collaboration, and improve customer engagement. The IT staff was burdened with increasing workloads, especially in failure investigation, after the launch of an e-commerce site to support the omni-channel initiative. The company was using Zabbix, a software tool for detecting system errors, but it was not effective in handling disparate data sources across multiple servers and operational silos. The IT team had to manually correlate access logs and application logs before they could analyze failures, which was time-consuming and challenging.

Pioneering Lead Generation with Conversational Messaging: A Case Study of Open Universities Australia - LivePerson Industrial IoT Case Study
Pioneering Lead Generation with Conversational Messaging: A Case Study of Open Universities Australia
In 2019, Open Universities Australia (OUA) decided to transition from live chat to conversational messaging, coinciding with the rebuilding of its digital platform. The goal was to enhance service for the 25,000 students they were catering to at the time. However, the contact centre required all students to create a new password, a task that posed significant challenges in a non-automated world. Additionally, OUA was using Facebook ads that linked to a form, which then funneled details to an outbound team for follow-up. This method was not particularly effective in terms of sales or user experience.

Enhancing Safety and Communication in Tunnel Construction with IoT: Ausgrid’s CityGrid Project - CommScope Industrial IoT Case Study
Enhancing Safety and Communication in Tunnel Construction with IoT: Ausgrid’s CityGrid Project
Ausgrid, Australia’s largest public utility, embarked on an ambitious $800 million upgrade project, codenamed CityGrid, aimed at supplying sufficient power to Sydney’s central business district through 2024 and injecting extra backup capabilities into the power grid for optimal future reliability. The project involved constructing up to four new interconnected substations, replacing and upgrading key high-voltage cables, and adding a new 8-kilometer City East tunnel. During the construction process, teams were working up to 55 meters below the surface, and maintaining open communication between the maintenance staff and teams working deeper within the tunnel was a challenge. Ausgrid used a simplex radio channel via the New South Wales Government Radio Network (NSWGRN) for this purpose, but this method had major drawbacks and limitations. It drew maintenance staff away from their daily monitoring and repair duties, forcing them to rely on land lines, escorts, and face-to-face meetings to connect with tunnel construction teams.

Virtual Insights with CloudLens: European ISP Extends Visibility into Virtualized Infrastructure
Proximus, the largest internet service provider (ISP) in Belgium, embarked on a network function virtualization (NFV) initiative in 2018. The project involved deploying various telecommunication applications using a cloud infrastructure, including virtual IP multimedia subsystems (vIMS), and software-defined wide area networking (SD-WAN). However, migrating complex physical ISP networks to a new network with virtualized functions was a long-term project, taking several years. During this transition, Proximus faced the challenge of maintaining the same visibility and analytics across both physical and virtual functions. The company had deployed several traffic analytics probes that relied on physical taps, tap aggregation switches, and Keysight Vision network packet brokers in the legacy environment. However, in the new virtual environment, network functions ran as virtual machines (VMs) on the same physical server, and the east-west traffic did not cross any of the physical links where the physical taps would have been located. Proximus needed to maintain the same level of visibility in the virtual environment as in the physical one, while also containing the total cost of ownership.
