We believe that instrumentation of normal everyday devices will lead to a more engaged and informed citizenry. That's why we approached the humble garbage can to begin with, with the hope that we can cut diesel emissions by cutting down on wasted trips to empty garbage cans.
However this is just the start. As populations grow and become more urbanized, the only way to sustainability is going to be Data Streams from sensors that co-exist at every level of human activity. These Data Streams will open up avenues for better resource management and will also democratize information points from all areas in a city, not just the more prosperous ones.
Yes there will be challenges of scale and security, but working together IOT can help solve human problems at scale. It is going to be a very exciting future for people playing in the space!
