About The Customer
Staft Toronto targets highly motivated servers and bartenders in Toronto, particularly students or recent graduates looking to apply themselves in the hospitality industry. Small and large event venues can also use the platform to find servers or bartenders. The platform is designed to be user-friendly, allowing job seekers to easily sign up, book a video interview, and set their own schedules. For venues, the platform simplifies the process of finding staff by broadcasting job requests to the highest rated Staft Members.
The Challenge
Staft Toronto was founded by Brian Meadows, Jesse Brito, and Brent McClenahan with the aim of connecting students and recent graduates in the hospitality industry to server and bartender jobs in Toronto. The founders also wanted to provide a platform for small and large event venues to find servers or bartenders. However, they faced challenges in creating a user-friendly platform that could handle the complex functions required for such a service. They needed a solution that would allow them to control the user experience, user interface, and back-end logic of their app, while also enabling fast creation and testing.
The Solution
The founders chose to build their app on Bubble, a no-code platform. Bubble's unlimited program features allowed them to take control of the UX, UI, and back-end logic of their app. The platform also enabled fast creation and testing, and provided all the tools needed to build complex functions and provide a user-friendly platform. Users looking for a job can sign up and book a video interview with the agency. After completing the interview and a basic serving & bartending training course, they can set their own schedule, take shifts as they become available, and get paid. On the other hand, users looking to fill a job request need to provide basic information about the event, and the request is immediately broadcast to the highest rated Staft Members.
Operational Impact
  • The use of Bubble's no-code platform has allowed Staft Toronto to create a user-friendly app that meets the needs of both job seekers and venues. The platform's unlimited program features have enabled the founders to take control of the UX, UI, and back-end logic of their app, resulting in a seamless user experience. The app has also facilitated the process of connecting job seekers with venues, with the ability to broadcast job requests to the highest rated Staft Members. The successful beta test launch and the high number of applicants for Staft Memberships indicate the app's effectiveness and potential for growth.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Successful beta test launch in the App Store and Google Play
  • Over 500 applicants for Staft Memberships
  • Preparing for a rise in work requests after easing of pandemic regulations
