To fuel growth and innovation, V5 Systems needed to increase market exposure and evolve its intelligent security platform to support more use cases, requirements and technologies.

Enjoy a beer on the upper Texas Gulf Coast, and you can probably thank Del Papa Distributing Company. Founded more than a century ago, the company today distributes 10 million cases of beer annually, from 30 suppliers. More than 375 employees work at headquarters in Texas City and two other distribution centers. The family-owned company has a simple aim: to be a great beer distribution company. So when Del Papa set out to build a new 27-acre headquarters, company leaders thought about how technology could contribute to its greatness. “We wanted the new distribution center to have a single, secure network we could use for physical security, communications, collaboration, and even monitoring the temperature of our inventory,” says Steve Holtsclaw, Manager of Information Systems for Del Papa. The old building, in contrast, had separate networks for voice, data, video, and physical security. Separate networks were expensive and got in the way of business. For example, personnel could only monitor video surveillance cameras from certain workstations. And Wi-Fi performance in the warehouse area wasn’t reliable enough for the voice-activated order-picking system.

Securitas wanted to give new and existing customers a proposition that was unlike anything they had offered before, a security system that broke the traditional mould but took advantage of the monitoring infrastructure that was already in place, including the manned response capabilities and alarm receiving centres.

This is especially true for Atlanta being one of the most multicultural cities in the U.S., and it attracts investment from across the globe. As with any large city, Atlanta is becoming more reliant on the use of visual intelligence to help identify and resolve safety and security incidents faster and more precisely. 

The primary concern for AdventHealth Orlando was security. The hospital’s security staff, although well-trained and conscientious, could not be everywhere at once. They needed extra “eyes” to catch what people could not. This was especially true in cases such as when a sick or injured person was hastily dropped off at the emergency room by a driver who then sped away. The local sheriff’s office would have to document the incident and identify the driver, but the hospital’s staff was unable to do that reliably.There was also a need for real-time analysis of traffic entering and leaving the hospital. This would tell the security staff how much parking was used by staff and patients and at what times of the day. The efficient operation of the hospital and plans for future growth depended on this data.

As Missouri S&T has grown, so has the demand for new facilities and updated buildings, which necessitated additional security solutions. The university was using a number of different platforms to control access to various buildings that made up the main campus of the university, as well as a physical lock-and-key system that posed a problem with oversight and management. With 35 buildings and numerous residence halls to manage, Missouri S&T sought to automate various systems through a centralized access control platform.Missouri S&T staff wanted the ability to incorporate data into its human resources, student management, course enrollment, and event management system. For example, only students and relevant staff would have access to student dormitories after hours. S&T staff wanted a system that allowed access and excluded access based on access need and security.
