About The Customer
Medcor is a premier provider of clinical intervention health services and proprietary software systems to more than 30,000 worksites throughout the United States. Founded in 1984, Medcor provides on-site health services, 24/7 telephonic injury triage, and employee screening services to its clients. The company has continued to grow, adding more staff, more locations, and more automated processes. Medcor operates at almost 200 client locations and has around 900 employees at its headquarters. The company's main challenge was to find a workflow management system that could automate tasks in its IT and HR departments, centralize and manage all requests, and increase consistency and compliance within its organization.
The Challenge
Medcor, a leading provider of clinical intervention health services, was facing a challenge in 2008. The company was seeking a solution to automate tasks in its IT and HR departments, centralize and manage all requests, and increase consistency and compliance within its organization. The process of hiring and placing qualified medical professionals, which is core to its business, involved a significant amount of paperwork. This paperwork, including applications, I-9 forms, and background check release forms, needed to be filed, tracked, processed, and sent via overnight mail to the applicant, and then overnighted back to Medcor for further processing. As Medcor continued to grow, adding more staff and locations, the need for more automated processes became evident. The challenge was to find a workflow management system that was easy to use and implement, could automate the new hire process, integrate with existing systems, and grow with the company.
The Solution
Medcor implemented Integrify in 2008, a 100% web-based solution for workflow management that allows companies to automate requests and streamline processes. The software provides form creation, routing definition, and tracking tools to those responsible for processing requests, minimizing data entry and simplifying requests for approval and fulfillment. Integrify was implemented using concurrent licenses, allowing every employee to access a single portal for all automated processes. Medcor also used the Integrify plugins - Database Push and Database Pull - to configure its Integrify environment and to connect Integrify processes with data from other systems including its Sage HR system. Over time, Medcor added additional plugins such as Excel Import, Dynamic Assigner, Dynamic Notification, Web Service, Open URL, and API Web Services. Integrify is also available as an OnDemand solution (SaaS) that offers the full functionality of the Integrify software via the Internet without requiring on-site installation and maintenance of the software.
Operational Impact
  • The implementation of Integrify has brought significant operational benefits to Medcor. The IT department, which receives the most requests through the system, can now handle hardware, software, and wireless requests more efficiently. The HR department has completely automated its new hire process, allowing new employee candidates to start the process immediately. The system also allows managers to maintain performance notes, yearly review information, and more. As the company continues to grow and set up more remote locations, Integrify has simplified the start-up and shutdown processes, enabling the IT department to handle all requests in a timely manner. Medcor continues to look for new ways to employ the Integrify system across more departments within the company.
Quantitative Benefit
  • The system handles 400 to 500 requests per month, the same amount handled in Medcor’s first year using the system.
  • Reduced costs as much as $30 to $40 and shaved off three to five days from the process for each applicant.
  • Can reduce costs per transaction 60 to 90 percent as opposed to paper-based processes.
