Rich Jersey LLC is a luxury meat company that imports and distributes processed venison, bison, yak, elk, camel, goat, ostrich, kangaroo, rabbit, wild boar, and Wagyu beef under the brand Meat Elevated™. The company was formed in March 2020 by owner Rich Jersey and vice president Gisela Carrillo, both of whom have years of experience in the meat industry. Starting as a two-person team, the company quickly grew to seven as business flourished. As a sales organization, Rich Jersey uses all third-party cold storages and trucking companies for their inventory, which also allows them to run their company from laptops remotely.
The Challenge
Rich Jersey LLC, a luxury meat company, faced significant challenges in managing their inventory and assembly process due to limitations in QuickBooks. The company, which imports and distributes a variety of processed meats, uses third-party cold storages and trucking companies for their inventory. This allows them to operate remotely from laptops. However, as their business flourished, QuickBooks alone was not sufficient to handle their growing needs. One of their third-party cold storages also functioned as a manufacturer, making assembly a major requirement for the company. QuickBooks lacked the bill of material functionality needed to track raw materials in the manufacturing process used to make a finished product for inventory, which is an assembly product.
The Solution
To overcome these challenges, Rich Jersey implemented an inventory management software that allowed them to keep QuickBooks but extend its functionality. The software, Acctivate, provided the necessary bill of material functionality to track raw materials in the manufacturing process. This enabled Rich Jersey to effectively manage their assembly process and inventory across multiple warehouses. The company's experience with Acctivate staff was exceptional, from the initial sales process to onboarding the software and receiving ongoing support. The switch from QuickBooks Online to QuickBooks Desktop was also facilitated by Acctivate for a solid integration. Rich Jersey found the training, help, and knowledge base resources provided by Acctivate to be valuable. The software also supported Rich Jersey with their customized reports.
