About The Customer
Lozier Corporation, headquartered in Omaha, Nebraska, is a leading manufacturer of products that retailers rely on for their stores and warehouses. The company has facilities in five states and employs more than 2,100 people. Family-owned and operated for over 65 years, Lozier's vision is to be operationally excellent in support of retail's present and future. The company's customers include thousands of retailers across the United States who rely on Lozier for efficient and effective products and services.
The Challenge
Lozier Corporation, a leading manufacturer of products for retailers, was facing significant challenges due to its outdated ERP system. The system, residing on an ageing mainframe, was unable to deliver reliable business management systems, consolidated data, and efficient processes. The company's business processes were sometimes inefficient due to these disparate systems. For instance, digital orders from customers had to be processed manually by Lozier's team, which was not only time-consuming but also increased the risk of inaccuracies and errors. The leadership team at Lozier recognized the need for a modern ERP system and industry best practices to drive operational excellence and ensure the company's continued success in the retail industry.
The Solution
Lozier partnered with Hitachi Vantara in 2019 to replace its mainframe-based solution with Oracle EBS. The partnership began with a series of training sessions to help key users better understand master data. Following the success of the training, Lozier engaged the team to assist with the digital transformation. The Oracle EBS rollout included Oracle Cloud CPQ and features such as quote-to-cash, manufacturing, scheduling, financial management, and electronic data exchange (EDI). This allowed the company to seamlessly manage digital orders. The project, which began in August 2020, went live in November 2021 after extensive testing to ensure every department was comfortable with the new system.
Operational Impact
  • The digital transformation has brought about significant operational improvements for Lozier. The company's processes are now more streamlined and efficient, benefiting both employees and customers. The replacement of the mainframe with the latest cloud-based tools from Oracle has simplified IT management and maximized agility. With greater automation, Lozier has reduced the number of manual touchpoints throughout key processes and reduced timescales. The company has also introduced new policies, such as limiting when customers can change orders, providing Lozier with greater transparency and control over the supply chain.
Quantitative Benefit
  • Decreased electronic order processing time by nearly 50%
  • More than 2,000 employees across multiple locations now benefit from more streamlined and efficient processes
  • Thousands of customers now benefit from improved services
