We connect the world through the Internet of Things. With our open IoT platform and our Apps, anything from vehicles to speed cameras and weather stations can be controlled, surveyed and analyzed from any location. For our clients, this means reduced costs, better usage information, or completely new functionality. And since both our hardware and our software are built on open standards, anyone can develop their own Apps.

Our applications range from platforms for connected vehicles using integrated apps that can be managed and monitored via the cloud to Volvo's test cars, weather stations, traffic cameras, buses, elevators and processes that control when city streetlights are turned on and off each day.

Hardware
Technologies that enable legacy devices and other systems to connect to the IoT. They integrate technologies and protocols for networking.
Products used by end users that contain IoT technologies. Examples include enabled equipment, wearables, hand-held scanners, and tracking devices.
Software
Horizontal applications are standardized (e.g., asset tracking). Vertical applications are tailored to specific needs (e.g., delivery fleet management).
APIs are the market enabler for IoT. They allow users to manage devices, enable data transfer between software, and provide access capabilities.
Middleware integrates the diverse components of an IoT application by structuring communication, workflows, and business rules.
IoT analytics includes real-time or edge computing and batch analysis. Analytics can be behavioral, descriptive, predictive, or prescriptive.
Visualization solutions use dashboards, alerts, events, maps, and other tools to present easily comprehensible data to end users.
Data management solutions capture, index and store data in traditional database, cloud platforms, and fog systems for future use.

Car Manufacturer Test IoT Solution on Test Vehicles
Car Manufacturer Test IoT Solution on Test Vehicles
For each new model, Volvo Cars builds a number of test cars that are driven for a long time in a variety of locations around the world. The test cars gather data that are useful during the development of the car and Volvo Cars wanted online access to this data. Volvo Cars set a number of requirements for the solution: it had to be built on standards to allow for quick implementation and expansion, and it needed to maintain the highest security standards – an obvious requirement in light of the fierce competition in the automotive industry.
Smarter Traffic Enforcement: Cameras, Weather Stations, and Speed Limit Signs
Smarter Traffic Enforcement: Cameras, Weather Stations, and Speed Limit Signs
The Transport Administration is responsible for Sweden’s infrastructure. They plan the transportation system, decide onbuilding projects, provide maintenance, procure services and are responsible for traffic information. In the early 1990s, the Administration introduced speed cameras, which monitor traffic on certain roads and photograph violations. The problem was that the cameras had to be emptied manually, which led to time-consuming administration and extra travel. The requirements for the new solution were higher: In addition to being connected to the cloud, the requirements for reliability and accessibility were extremely high.

MIIPS Open IoT Platform
MIIPS Open IoT Platform
MIIPS Open IoT Platform consists of four parts – read more about them below – that can connect to a vehicle, a building, or a system, among other things. Then there is the possibility of adding the functionality you want through various apps – such as camera surveillance, breathalyzer, or onboard Internet. Thanks to the platform’s openness, new apps can be created by us, our customers, or third party developers. This means you can confidentally scale up your investment with more features over time.
