Call for action immediately in Siemens
Call for action immediately in Siemens
In line with their Industry 4.0 development initiative, the Siemens factory in Nanjing felt that using phone calls as the primary method for reporting and calling for action was not acceptable for long-term development goals. In addition, phone calls do not create any data that can be stored for future referencing.
Quality compressed air for high-tech products
Quality compressed air for high-tech products
When it came to modernisation of the existing compressed air station, the company’s management decided to opt for a compressed air contracting arrangement to ensure that the compressed air supply would always meet the latest technical standards and be capable of taking advantage of the benefits that Industry 4.0 has to offer – and not least due to the frequent fluctuations in demand in the automotive supplier industry. In this operator model, the compressed air station itself remains the property of the air system provider, whilst the customer simply uses the compressed air as needed, just like power from an electrical socket, paying only for the volume of compressed air actually used – and always at the same fixed rate. From an accounting perspective, this effectively turns fixed costs into variable costs. At Scholz, the new station was installed in a space-saving container on the roof of the company building.

Piano Industria 4.0
Piano Industria 4.0
Italy's Piano Industria 4.0 provides concrete measures based on three key guidelines:- To operate based on technological neutrality logic- To target industry horizontals and avoid vertical or sector-based measures- To operate on enabling factorsThe national plan outlines three strategic and two complementary measures:1) Innovative Investments - To stimulate private investment in driving adoption of Industry 4.0 technologies- To increase private expenditure on research & development and innovation- To expand open innovation relationships between mature companies and high-tech startups2) Skills and Research- To create knowledge and stimulate research on Industry 4.0 specifically through vocational training - To finance Industry 4.0 technological clusters ad Industrial PhDs- To create Competence Centers and Digital Innovation Hubs3) Awareness and Governance : - To generate interest in Industry 4.0 opportunities and create a shared public-private governance 4) Enabling Infrastructures: - To ensure adequate network infrastructure, security and data protection, and collaborate on the development of international interoperability standards5) Additional measures:- To channel finance to support Industry 4.0 transformation and support public investment schemes- To reinforce internationalization of Italian companies
Plattform Industrie 4.0
Plattform Industrie 4.0
Industry is both the backbone of the German economy and a strong foundation for the impending digitisation of industrial manufacturing. Industrie 4.0 will enable mass production according to individual customer requirements and lead to new business models and new perspectives for employees. The framework for this structural change must be designed to strengthen German industry. Plattform Industrie 4.0 is tasked with drawing up relevant recommendations for action and demonstrating with example applications how industrial manufacturing can be digitized successfully in practice. As part of its High-Tech Strategy ("Ideas. Innovation. Prosperity.") to consolidate German innovation leadership, Germany is making significant R&D investment in the Internet of Things and new services for the diverse application areas within this new connected world. The more networked the economy becomes, the more cooperation, participation and coordination of all stakeholders is needed. The platform’s goal is therefore to develop a consistent overall understanding of Industrie 4.0 through dialogue with businesses, trade unions, science and government. To draw up relevant recommendations for action and demonstrate with example applications how industrial manufacturing can be digitised successfully in practice. The Industrie 4.0 implementation strategy was drawn up in cooperation with industrial companies and other associations by the original platform operated by BITKOM, the VDMA and ZVEI. The report designates the core components of Industrie 4.0. The findings of the implementation strategy continue to influence the platform’s work. The implementation strategy can be found here.

Industrie 4.0
Industrie 4.0
Industry 4.0, Industrie 4.0 or the fourth industrial revolution, is the current trend of automation and data exchange in manufacturing technologies. It includes cyber-physical systems, the Internet of things and cloud computing. The term "Industrie 4.0" originates from a project in the high-tech strategy of the German government, which promotes the computerization of manufacturing.Invoking a fourth Industrial Revolution, Industrie 4.0 creates intelligent manufacturing networks where decentralized smart factories can communicate and react to each other autonomously.Industry 4.0 creates what has been called a "smart factory". Within the modular structured smart factories, cyber-physical systems monitor physical processes, create a virtual copy of the physical world and make decentralized decisions. Over the Internet of Things, cyber-physical systems communicate and cooperate with each other and with humans in real time, and via the Internet of Services, both internal and cross-organizational services are offered and used by participants of the value chain.
