Continua is an international not-for-profit industry group and the leading organization convening global technology industry standards to develop end-to-end, plug-and-play connectivity for personal connected health. Continua's Design Guidelines based on global industry standards and test tools enable more efficient, standardized development and create new market opportunities for interoperable personal health devices and services used to collect and relay vital health information and education.
The Design Guidelines currently represent 13 international standards bodies and have been approved as the global standard for personal connected health devices and systems within the International Telecommunication Union (ITU).
The Personal Connected Health Alliance (PCHA) is a membership association formed by Continua, mHealth Summit and HIMSS to transform healthcare through personalized, interoperable connected health solutions. PCHA engages in three broad areas of activity:
•Technical Leadership: publishing the Continua Design Guidelines, an open implementation framework for interoperability of personal connected health devices and solutions
•Education: convening the mHealth Summit, the largest and most diverse event of its kind for exploring mobile, telehealth, and connected health technologies and their global impact
•Advocacy: creating favorable markets and regulatory climates for connected health around the world and advocating for standardization to enable the free exchange of healthcare data across systems
